The 'In the Metal' collection is inspired by crucial moments in the careers of some of motor racing's most iconic drivers. Each art work in the collection welcomes the audience into the same moment as the driver, when they were about to step into their car some forty years ago.
With each art work printed on aluminium, 'In the Metal' encourages people to interact with the artwork rather than just view it. Just as the driver might have run his hand over the bodywork of the car before getting in, you are invited to touch the art work.

ABOUT THE ARTIST
Kyriacos Michaelides is a photographer and long-time motorsport fan. Having emigrated from Cyprus to the United Kingdom in 1961, he quickly became engrained in the British motorsport scene.
As well as competing in a number of motor racing series in the 1970s and 1980s, Michaelides has been photographing motorsport for more than 40 years. His passion for the sport and photography have seen him visit hundreds of motor racing events across the world.
His collection for In the Metal has seen Michaelides curate his favourite photographs from the past 40 years and re-imagine them in a new medium – print on aluminium.
